Job Description

The Field Engineer functions as an objective observer of Whitlock AV systems quality to ensure systems meet customer expectations as well as Whitlock and industry standards.  The key focus is to provide verification, checks, reports, and follow up with issues through the life cycle of all projects.  This position is responsible for providing reports to Project Managers, Designers, and Lead Technicians including solutions to problems to ensure systems are 100% complete before customers sign off.  The Quality Assurance Specialist position will be responsible for continued development, documentation, and promotion of company and industry standards for Installation, Commissioning and Quality Control to fulfill and exceed customer expectations. This role may provide leadership and technical support to projects as needed, and assists in managing customer relationships at their site by providing professional, courteous support at all times.

  • Ensure that all Whitlock Integrated Systems are Dependable, Serviceable, and Documented.
  • Work closely with management implementing process or training initiatives.
  • Monitor the Technical Operations schedule regularly for visibility of ongoing projects and conduct on site visits of assigned projects for a minimum of 3 points of progress.
  • Communicate regularly with Technicians in the QCC and in the field to understand their challenges and document specific issues that compromise quality.
  • Utilize I-Auditor software as a quality checks template and develop project specific I-Auditor templates as needed. Quality Audits should be made for each individual system and forwarded to the associated Project Manager. Follow up on all reported issues and verify resolution.
  • Work in the Quality Control Center to assist teams with any technical challenges that may arise during the staging process.
  • Understand project’s Scope of Work and work to bring clarification to any undefined areas.
  • Communicate closely with Control System Programmers to ensure they are working from a customer reviewed and approved Control System Scope of Work and User Interface Design.
  • Secure compliance with all applicable regulations including national, state, local, Whitlock policies, safety regulations and client or contractor job-site regulations.
  • Ensure all Whitlock Installation Teams adhere closely to the Whitlock Standards and Best Practices Guide paying close attention to use of approved materials, tooling, and techniques. As well as ensure adherence to all safety regulations as identified by OSHA, local code, job site requirements and Whitlock policies.
  • Develop System User Guides and conduct onsite training for customers.
  • Prepared to compile reports on a quarterly basis regarding audits, customer experience, service warranty issues, training and standards adoption, or any overall quality issues or concerns.

Job Requirements

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma, Bachelor’s degree preferable
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience commissioning high level AV systems
  • Previous Project Management experience is a plus
  • Ability to provide training and mentorship to technical resources including entry level, very experienced and sub-contractors
  • Intermediate level of end user experience with professional audio mixing consoles, broadcast AV switchers, and professional broadcast camera systems.
