Job Description

Whitlock has an exciting opportunity for a Control System Software Developer to join our newly created DevOps teamThis person will take a proactive approach to develop assets as required to help ensure the consistency of our deployed systems and remotely support our regional control system programmers. In this role, you will architect, build and enhance control solutions for our programming team. You will also provide support and mentoring to project team members. This is a perfect opportunity for a recent graduate who is passionate about software development and looking for career growth. 

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Develop scripts to automate various deployment processes
  • Design, code, and test software comprising the programming environments and configuration tools for Crestron equipment.
  • Review project requirements. Suggest and prototype new features and changes to existing features.
  • Work collaboratively with other developers within our team or across other teams and field support technicians to debug software problems and customer issues.
  • Work with project managers and team leads to estimate, schedule, and prioritize development activities.
  • Responsible for selecting and integrating third party libraries and applications.
  • Provides technical documentation, including but not limited to test procedures, design and usage specifications, etc.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Preferred area of study Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Programming skills in relevant language(s)
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), good interpersonal skills, ability to gather and understand requirements is required
  • Organization and precision in execution of tasks
  • Coursework or experience and proficiency in C#.NET required
  • Coursework or experience in scripting language, preferably with PowerShell or Python
  • Strong debugging and diagnostic skills are required
  • Knowledge with object-oriented design, patterns, and development
  • Understanding of basic networking concepts and protocols like TCP/IP, UDP etc.
  • Knowledge of various web technologies such as HTTP and SSL/TLS is a plus
  • Strong computer skills; proficiency in MS Office is preferred
  • Strong analytical skills to resolve complex problems.
  • Able to multi-task effectively
  • Able to work independently as well as within a team
  • Quick learner, methodical and detail-oriented with desire to seek perfection
  • Knowledge in Control Systems such as Crestron a plus but not required
