Job Description

Whitlock is looking for a high performing Database Developer to join an exciting growing company. The Database Developer will support all reporting needs for our organization.  This includes creating/maintaining reports within our NetSuite ERP system, dashboards and creating offline reporting for all systems.  The Database Developer will work directly with our business owners/users to acquire the specific reporting requirements.  For larger reporting efforts the Database Developer will document the proposed solution, review with the business owners, receive sign-off, and then proceed with building the target solution.  Also, there are multiple tools currently in place and the database developer will research and help determine the right toolset going forward for reports, dashboards and business intelligence data.

Job Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Catalog ERP dashboard items for all teams; meet with each group and determine if existing dashboards are meeting business needs; adjust/create dashboards
  • Review current executive level reporting and determine right platform for the reporting
  • Research and evaluate reporting toolsets and recommend target-state toolsets for all reporting needs
  • Assist with synchronization between ERP and service management platform; develop reporting to ensure synchronization
  • Maintenance and daily management of the reporting and reporting applications
  • Management of training subject matter experts on reporting
  • Work directly with business users to define requirements; write functional requirements based on business needs
  • Provide front line support with regards to all functional aspects of reporting
  • Development and implementation of policies, procedures and guidelines to ensure the quality of reporting
  • Full life cycle methodology support for reporting
  • Manage communication to customers on assigned tickets, track issues, ensure their timely resolution, and manage expectations
  • Provides off-hours support as needed, including participating in the team on-call rotation

Business Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience with relational database, SQL, and data analysis
  • 5+ years of reporting experience with query tools, reporting tools and business intelligence tools such as Power BI
  • 3+ years of experience creating/monitoring integrations across multiple systems
  • General understanding of ERP systems, platforms, and business processes
  • General understanding of common industry standard business practices as related to Accounting (Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Invoicing); Sales Force Management (Opportunity, Proposal, Sales Orders, Forecasting, Territory Management and Quotas); Inventory Management (Purchasing and Fulfilment); and Support (Case Management), Project Management
  • Exposure to other Accounting, Sales Force Management and Marketing business practices such as Payroll, Expense Tracking, Multi-currency and Commissions, Returns, Team Selling, Net or Ecommerce, Shopping carts and Website Layout
  • Experience with software in a ‘Software as a Service’ (SaaS) environment
  • Four-year college degree in relevant discipline (MIS, IT business/computer science)
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills; ability to work creatively in problem solving environment
  • Ability to balance technical skills with business savvy – ability to transform end-user needs into functional and systematic requirements
  • Excellent customer service skills; ability to form relationships both externally and internally
  • A willingness to learn new systems, technologies and processes in a dynamic and changing environment
